Dress Code

Below you will find the dance and footwear requirements for each dance class:

DANCE BASICS
Ages 2.5 - 8
Pink tights, black leotard, pink leather ballet slippers, black patent leather tap shoes. Skirts/sweaters are optional. Hair pulled away from face.

ELEMENTARY JAZZ & HIP-HOP
1st & 2nd Grade
Black dance pants or shorts, tank tops or form fitting T-shirts, and black or tan jazz booties (no laces). Hair pulled away from face.

BALLET & POINTE
3rd Grade & up
Pink tights, black leotard, pink canvas ballet slippers. Hair in a bun.

JAZZ
3rd Grade & up
Black dance pants or shorts, tank tops or form fitting T-shirts, and black or tan jazz booties (no laces). Hair pulled away from face.

TAP
3rd Grade & up
Black dance pants or shorts, tank tops or form fitting T-shirts, and black or tan tap shoes. Hair pulled away from face.

CONTEMPORARY
3rd Grade & up
Black dance pants or shorts, tank tops or form fitting T-shirts, and "Foot Undeez," "Dance Paws," or turning shoes. Hair pulled away from face.

HIP-HOP
3rd Grade & up
Dancer's choice for clothing, however no jeans, school clothes, etc. Tennis shoes that are used only in the dance studio.

Please note that all dance shoes and personal items should be clearly labeled with the student's name/initials.

Dance Shoes Re-Sale Shelf

NSDS has a re-sale shelf in the dance boutique to make finding dance shoes as easy as possible. Shoes are usually available for $5-$20 depending upon the style, size, and condition.

If you have shoes to sell, place them in a Ziplock baggie with your name and the price clearly labeled. If someone purchases your shoe, we will notify you and give you your money.
